Representative cases include:

  • Gonzalez v. Abercrombie & Fitch — SSI was appointed administrator in this $48 million Title VII settlement alleging discrimination in employment and hiring. SSI’s duties included facilitating notice mailing to a class of over 171,000 people, publicizing notice of the settlement in national publications, processing and evaluating claim forms, proving phone support to class members, and establishing and administering a Qualified Settlement Fund in order to issue checks and tax forms to the more than 16,000 claimants.
  • Augst-Johnson v. Morgan Stanley — SSI was appointed administrator in this $46 million Title VII settlement alleging gender discrimination against female Financial Advisors at Morgan Stanley. SSI’s duties included facilitating notice mailing to over 2,800 class members, processing claim forms, and establishing and administering a Qualified Settlement Fund in order to issue checks and tax forms to the nearly 1,000 claimants. In addition, SSI president Thomas A. Warren was appointed by the Court as Special Master and was tasked with reviewing over 1,000 claim forms filed in the case and applying a legal standard to claimants’ responses to the 50-plus question claim form in order to determine claimant award amounts, and to submit a Report and Recommendation to the Court regarding claimant awards.
  • Satchell v. Fed Ex — SSI was appointed administrator in this $54 million Title VII settlement alleging race discrimination at Fed Ex. SSI’s duties included facilitating notice mailing to over 24,000 class members, providing phone support to class members, reviewing and processing claim forms, and establishing and administering a Qualified Settlement Fund in order to issue checks and tax forms to the nearly 13,000 claimants.
  • Wade v. The Kroger Co. — SSI was appointed administrator in this $16 million Title VII settlement alleging race discrimination at Kroger. SSI’s duties included facilitating notice mailing to over 340,000 class members, providing phone support to class members, reviewing and processing claim forms, and establishing and administering a Qualified Settlement Fund in order to issue checks and tax forms to the nearly 27,000 qualified claimants. In order to effectively manage notice mailing, claim processing, and phone support in a class of this size, SSI utilized a variety of technologies to aid in the precision and efficiency of the process.
  • Tucker, et al. and EEOC v. Walgreen Company -- SSI was appointed administrator in this $24.4 million Title VII settlement alleging race discrimination at Walgreen's.  SSI's duties included facilitating notice mailing to over 10,000 class members, providing phone support to class members, and establishing and administering a Qualified Settlement Fund in order to issue checks and tax forms to the more than 10,000 award recipients.
